Los Angeles International Airport (LAX):
LA’s main airport, LAX is located by the beach on the west side of town, all the way in Playa Del Rey.
Pros: Many flights, most of which will be slightly more affordable; a familiar airport to anyone who has been in and out of LA before.
Cons: LAX is about an hour and some change from the hotels/Airbnbs we recommend (applies to any of them — from LAX, expect to be in transit for about an hour to any location that isn’t immediately next door); if checking bags and Ubering from the airport, add 30 mins to an hour for getting bags and making your way to the rideshare lot (either walking or taking the airport’s free shuttle — if your terminal is far from the rideshare lot, we recommend walking, as it tends to be faster)
Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)
Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) (our recommendation, if possible):
Pros: Much less crowded than LAX; much smaller airport, so much faster to get bags and make it out to the street for rideshares/transport; surrounding area is much less developed, so much less traffic from airport to the hotel; much closer to all our recommended places to stay (15-20 mins, regardless of where you’re staying).
Cons: Smaller airport, so fewer flights available; flights available may be somewhat more expensive (essentially a convenience fee, though we recommend paying it if possible)
