ABOUT LYSEBU HOTEL
The wedding weekend will take place at Lysebu hotel in Oslo, and we hope that you will join us there from Friday 9th May to Sunday 11th May.
The wedding ceremony will also take place outside at Lysebu hotel, and we will have the hotel and its facilities to ourselves.
The hotel is a special place for Marianne and Matthew, and is even where Marianne’s parents celebrated their wedding in 1987. Lysebu's history is founded on a partnership and collaboration between two countries – which feels very fitting for our wedding!
During the Second World War, Denmark supported Norway with food across the country. As a thank you, Norway gave Lysebu as a gift to the Danes. Its Foundation was tasked with managing the gift to promote cultural exchange across national borders. Lysebu's values are based on this story: Generosity, gratitude and consideration.
For more information about the hotel and its many facilities, have a look at their website:

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT
Check-in opens at the hotel at 15:00. Check out on the Sunday is at 12:00.
FLIGHTS
The best airport to fly to is Oslo Gardermoen (OSL).
ARRIVAL
You can arrive at anytime on Friday 9th May, however check-in opens at 15:00. Guests are of course welcome to arrive earlier, and spend time with friends, family and the happy couple!
If you are able to join us for the dinner on the Friday, know that this will start from 18:00. If you RSVP yes to this, we advise to arrive at the hotel by at least 17:00.
TRANSPORT
By train and metro:
You can get from Gardermoen airport to Lysebu hotel using public transport. We recommend downloading the app Ruter for this, which also allows you to buy tickets through the app. However, you can also use Google Maps and purchase tickets separately.
From the airport, you can take the train to Oslo Central Station or Nationaltheateret (20 minutes). You can either take the airport express or the normal train. They take roughly the same amount of time. From there, take the metro Line 1, Frognerseteren to Voksenkollen (35 minutes).
From Voksenkollen, it's a 10-minute (steep) walk up to Lysebu (signposted).
We would suggest roughly factoring in an hour and a half to get from the airport to Lysebu hotel, but recommend you check the estimated travel time based on your arrival time at Gardemoen airport.
By car:
If you are travelling by car, there is a large outdoor parking area, with free parking for 3 hours. After that, it costs 30 NOK per hour and 160 NOK per day.
At the Gardemoen airport in Oslo, you will of course find your usual car-rental companies.
By taxi:
There are fixed taxi prices from the Gardemoen airport. If you wish to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, please follow the instructions and booking system at the airport.
We recommend Oslo Taxi from the various taxi companies.
You can also use Uber and Bolt in Oslo.
!NEW IMPORTANT UPDATE!
We are getting married on the same day as Holmenkollstafetten, on the 10th May. Yay us!
For those of you who are based in Oslo, you will know this annual running event will create some traffic and chaos impacting public transport as well as road closures around the Holmenkollen area – which is the area we’re getting married in. Exciting! It will also impact Oslo city in general, for the whole day.
Please see the website URL below for more information. For English speakers – use Google Chrome for translation of this page. But as an overview, please see these messages in particular:
“It will not be possible to cross the race course at any point along the route other than via Ring 3. Anyone living within the race course can use Ring 3 as an exit road.”
“Spectators who need to drive up to Holmenkollen during the race can use the detour from Røa i Ankerveien - Måltrostveien - Trostefaret - Lillevannsveien - Setra vei to Holmenkollveien.

For most guests, you will be staying with us at Lysebu Hotel for the weekend, from the Friday. In this case, we advise you do not travel anywhere by car or public transport away from the Lysebu area on the Saturday 10th May.
Please do let us know any questions at all, or contact Lysebu directly as they can also help answer any travel questions.
