Accommodation Information
Slane is a popular wedding area with several venues, so we recommend booking accommodation early. Slane itself is a small village but there are various accommodation options nearby, details of which can be found on the Visit Slane website (Slane Accommodation link below). Otherwise, we recommend looking in either Navan or Drogheda. Both of these are larger towns and Slane is right in the middle of the two. Navan is about a 15 minute drive and Drogheda is about a 20 minute drive. See below for some hotel options in both places. There are also a few Airbnbs and self catering holiday lets. Details of some of these can be found on the 'Boyne Valley Holiday Lets' link below.
On Site Accommodation Information
For those with on site accommodation allocated, we have reserved this for the Friday and Saturday nights. Check in will be from 3pm on the Friday and check out will be at 11am on the Sunday. Please note that we will have to cover the cost of any accommodation not taken, so please let us know early if you are not going to take it so that we can offer it to someone else. There are communal kitchens in all accommodation areas with plenty of fridges, cooking facilities, bbqs and pizza ovens. We will be providing breakfast food but we recommend bringing any extra food that you would like. Full accommodation information can be found on the Rock Farm Website and more details will also be sent out by the venue. Information on how to book will be sent out by the venue after you have filled out your RSVP.
Things to do in Slane
See below for a link to the Visit Slane website which has information on places to eat, things to do and more in the local area. For eating out, we recommend booking in advance as there are only a few restaurants and they get busy! The surrounding area of the Boyne Valley has plenty of beautiful walks and historical sites to visit. So, if you have some extra time, we recommend exploring a bit further. See below a link to the Boyne Valley tourism website for more information.
Our honeymoon fund
We look forward to spending our wedding day with you all and your presence is the best gift you can give. However, we appreciate that some people would like to honour us with other contributions. We have lived together for a while and so are lucky enough to have everything that we need at home. However, contributions to our honeymoon would be greatly appreciated and so we have set up a fund for this.
FAQs
We have put together a list of questions and answers to save you time.
What is the dress code?
Summer outdoor wedding (with reasonably practical footwear!)
Is there parking?
There is a car park on site opposite the hay barn which all are welcome to use. The ceremony is a 5 minute walk from the car park. If you have an trouble walking down to the ceremony, there is space to drop off in a car closer to the clamping site, but cars must then be parked back up in the main car park.
Are children welcome?
Children named on invitations are welcome to all parts of the day. Just note that children should be supervised around the site. It is a large site with great spaces for running around, but there is farm equipment, animals, a bonfire and a natural swimming pool.
Can I use the natural swimming pool?
The natural swimming pool is available for those staying on site only and everyone will need to sign a waiver before arriving (sent out by the venue). The pool must also not be used after dark.
