Our Story
Kate and Chris first met back in July 2009 at the Star Casino Sydney. In the middle of some tropical-themed bar, Kate's dear friend Steph held up an obnoxiously large map of Sydney, drawing attention to the fact both girls were clearly tourists, out on a night in the big city. Whilst Chris initially played hard to get, their connection was undeniable and after parting ways, fate (also known as Steph and a bottle of Jager) brought them back together 3 months later. After 18 months of long-distance Kate took the plunge and left her hometown of Perth to fly to the Eastern States to take a chance on love. Fast forward nearly 15 years and Chris (FINALLY) got down on one knee and popped the big question. Kate said she would think about it, we kidd, she said yes!

Wedding Party
Meet the lovely family and friends who will play very special roles on Kate and Chris's big day.
Chloe - Matron of Honour
Kate and Chloe are cousins by birth but friends by choice. After being the world’s sexiest (and modest) Maid of Honour for Chloe in 2015, Chloe is excited and honoured to be Kate’s Maid of Honour (or more like Matron of Honour #old). Chloe and Kate’s shared love of orderliness, cleanliness and Etsy shows that some things are just genetic. Chloe often cops the blame for Kate meeting Chris in Sydney all those years ago and leaving her home town of Perth (though she reckons it’s actually Steph’s fault), but seeing the love-filled life Kate and Chris have built for themselves leads her to think Fate played a big part in it too.
Sam - Bridesmaid
Approximately 80% of Sam and Kates early friendship involved being drunk when they shouldn't be (like in lecture theatres or the night before an assignment), long nights in the film edit suites and an ungodly amount of Macdonalds. Sam and Kate initially trauma bonded over the crippling HECS debt at Curtin Uni as fresh faced 17 year olds. 4 hour long car DnMs, all-nighters learning avant guarde performance monologues with Konalee, to drinking sangria in the pool or walking the dogs, all fond memories that barely scratch the surface on their 17 year friendship. If Kate is even half as good of a wife as she is a friend to Sam, then Chris is a very lucky man. As long as he learns to clean the kitchen properly.
Konalee - Bridesmaid
Kate and Konalee hit it off at Curtain University; both running late to their first performance class and have remained the closest of friends since, despite living in different states and now countries. Kate and Konalee share a love of so many things - travel, dancing the night away, deep and meaningful chats over cups of tea, hitting the gym and then grabbing something sweet afterwards! Despite Konalee often taking Chris’ logical side in any couples disagreements she stands firmly on the bride’s side for this occasion. She can’t wait to see what this power couple have in store as they start their new chapter as husband and wife
Curtis - Best Man
In a time before beards and quiffs, there were two 12 year old Alfa peacocks on the school yard of Melrose High School. Instantly drawn to each other, an arm wrestle on the picnic table in the school yard is where it all began. Since that day, it has been one of those friendships that is undeniable and unconditional. Except for when Curtis had walked into Fitness First Deakin after a couple of years apart, only to find that Chris had been training tirelessly to improve his strength and conditioning following the bitter loss on that school picnic bench so many years before. It was there in that moment, Curtis knew he had to do better. A commitment to stay closer followed and as did some huge life moments shared, Moving to Sydney, eating competitions, insane amounts of sushi, growing together (clearly not hair), traveling, weddings, beach days, beers, balcony renovations, challenges, triumphs and everything in between.
A friendship carved in stone of two guys cut from the same cloth, developed from an unspoken agreement to be there during the ups but more so during the downs.
Kates a lucky lass, but Chris is a lucky man. A relationship to stand the rest of time without a doubt.
Dan - Groomsman
Chris and Dan met while working at Fitness First Deakin, where Dan became the club manager and Chris the PT manager. They quickly became friends and eventually roommates, sharing an apartment and creating countless memories together. They always knew they would become friends who ride majestic steeds, shooting flaming arrows across the bridge of Hemdale.
Dan is a fun-loving guy who enjoys staying active and spending time with friends. He is excited to stand by Chris's side as he marries the love of his life, Kate. Dan can't wait to celebrate this joyous occasion with all of their loved ones!
James - Groomsman
James is one of Chris' older brothers, who may have less hair, but he has more where it counts (the moustache department). James was there the night Chris and Kate met and based off Chris' demeanour at the end of the night he knew that Kate was different, and he'd met someone special.
Both Chris and Kate were by his and Courtney's side on their wedding day and James is honoured to be a part of theirs (finally).
Courtney - Master of Ceremonies
Courtney is the wife of Chris' older brother James and a close friend (and now family) of both Chris and Kate. Although things have only become official for them both this year, Courtney has always felt like Kate is a long-lost sister and Chris a brother.
Courtney has learnt to love their little idiosyncrasies, Kate's cleanliness habits, (and lateness, which is difficult for someone as punctual as Courtney) and Chris' wildly embellished stories.
Courtney looks forward to supporting Chris and Kate on their day as MC and can't wait to tell some wild stories of her own
Stephanie - Wedding Reader
Steph has known Kate since she was 16 and has taken the role as “the big sister” ever since. They have always shared a love for dance, both in the studio and on the club dance floor! Kate has always been by Steph’s side even with the distance. She has let her cry to her about boys and celebrated all her biggest wins. Their holiday to Sydney in 2009 is where the love story really began for Chris and Kate. If it wasn't for that oversized tourist map Kate and Chris may never have met and without Steph passing on Kate's number their love story would have been short lived. Kate is grateful everyday for that holiday, it changed the path of her life for the better and Steph can't wait to see what's in store for their future together.
