What is the weather going to be like?
We are praying for good weather on the day, similar to sunny winters we have experienced in the last 2 years. Should it rain, it's still considered good luck for the bride & groom. However, the venue is on high altitude so you will require warmer clothing towards the end of the night.
Where do I park if attending the bride's home for photos?
Please use the paid parking area opposite the apartment building and mention 'George Sarkis'.
What if I plan on drinking?
Your safety is our main concern. We strongly advise that those planning to drink have a plan B like a designated driver or organise a taxi or Uber-like service. Also, we suggest those travelling a long distance consider accommodation nearby. Please refer to 'Accommodation' recommendations.
How long will the reception last?
We want you to stay as long as possible and make the most of this occasion. We are giving you plenty of notice to organise your babysitter, find you perfect dancing shoes and party until the sun comes up.
What if I have a dietary requirement?
The food will be presented in a buffet style and will have multiple options to choose from to cater for all your dietary needs. Bon appetite!
What is the dress code?
Formal. Historically, formal has always translated to floor length gowns for women and suits/tuxedos for men. However, being in the 21st century, its up to your interpretation. So long as you feel fabulous!
Is clapping in the church permitted?
Although the church is a place of worship, clapping is permitted so long as it is reserved for when the couple are finally pronounced 'husband & wife'.
Is there disability access to the church and reception venue?
Yes, there is disability access. Unfortunately, the groom and bride's houses do not have disability access with only stairs available.
Other than the wedding, what do I do during my stay?
We have lovingly curated an exhaustive list of activities, sites and restaurants from our past travels for your perusal. Please refer to 'Our Guide'.
What do I expect at the luggage collection at Beirut airport?
Beirut Airport is bustling with persistent baggage handlers who will insist upon helping you take your luggage to your car, for a fee of course. Don't get overwhelmed. If you do require their assistance, ensure you are firm with them about only having 1 or 2 helpers to the car because it magically turns into 12 people who are all waiting for a tip. The minute you find a few others walking along with you, be stern and tell them you don't need them. If you do not need their assistance, tell them to back off from the start. They respond better to women.
What currency is accepted in Lebanon?
There are exchange places in every township which accept all currencies including AUD. Do NOT exchange at the airport. As a point of note, check every day's exchange rate online and the shop assistant will usually calculate the exchange at 1-2 cents less. It is a wise option to carry small change in the US dollar before travelling so you can tip or buy something on arrival to Lebanon. Credit cards are usually accepted in all legitimate places like shopping centres, restaurants and bars. However, our advice is to avoid using credit cards if you can.
