Our Love Story
Lesley & Mark’s Story
In 2019, Lesley moved into a rental across the road, never imagining that just a few steps away lived the man who would change her life forever. Her garden was overgrown, her furniture still in boxes, and everything felt temporary — except for the neighbour who appeared with kindness. Mark offered to mow the lawns, and later, when Lesley’s parents came to stay, he patiently helped her piece together every bit of flat-pack furniture.
From the beginning, Lesley was captivated by Mark’s gentle heart, his kindness, and his childlike goofiness — a playful spark she would later come to know as his ADHD superpower in life. Mark, in turn, was enchanted by Lesley’s sharp wit, her dark sense of humour, her love of fitness, and above all, her extraordinary ability to love deeply. It was a love that steadied him, lifted him, and helped make ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
When Covid arrived, the world pressed pause — but their love pressed play. Before their first official date, they were already living together, building a bond that only grew stronger with time.
Their family grew with Carrot, their energetic German Shorthaired Pointer, and two years later, with Charlie, his spirited sidekick. In 2022, they took another leap of faith together and started Flatline Demolition — proving that love and work, when grounded in trust and laughter, can thrive hand in hand.
Through every challenge and triumph, Lesley and Mark discovered that true love is not just found in the milestones, but in the quiet, everyday moments that become unforgettable when shared with the right person.
And then, in December 2024, at his favourite restaurant, Amelia Park in Margaret River, Western Australia, Mark got down on one knee. For Lesley, the answer was simple and certain. With tears in her eyes and joy in her heart, she said yes — yes to the neighbour who became her partner, her greatest support, her laughter, and her forever love.
