๐Ÿ’• Our Love Story ๐Ÿ’•
Elliott moved to the seaside town of Yeppoon after finishing university to begin his engineering career working for the local council. He made some friends while working at the council and settled into life in Yeppoon. At a friends birthday dinner in June 2015 he first met Tal, but not much was said on this first encounter as Elliott was rather reserved when it came to talking with the ladies. Throughout the year they crossed paths a few more times, but only at a distance. A few times Tal joined her friends Trivia team (which included Elliott) at their Wednesday night Trivia at the Strand. They saw each other enough times, albeit at a distance still, for Tal to request Elliottโ€™s friendship on Facebook. Later that year, after finishing one of the final assessments to become a registered psychologist, one Friday afternoon after work, Tal decided to have Tapas and wine with friends to celebrate (Tapas was a relatively new concept in Yeppoon at this time). Tal said to her friend Stacey, โ€œdo you think I should invite your work friend Elliott?โ€ To which she excitedly responded โ€œummm yesโ€ฆ why do you want him to come? Do you like him?โ€ Tal was unsure but knew she wanted to get to know this quiet Kiwi bird a little bit more. They got to know each other a little bit, enough for Tal to walk with him back to his place from his friends and talk more. The next week or two was slow!!!!!!! Elliott maintained his reservedness and Tal had to continue to chip away at this quiet Kiwi and take the time to get to know him and let him get comfortable with this little potato from Mt Chalmers. After a week or so of talking, texting, Tal showing up at Trivia, Elliott took her out on their very first date. He was quite the gentleman and they got to know each other more. Before Elliott travelled to Cairns for Christmas and then onto Japan for skiing and new years, he stayed with Tal in Yeppoon while she house & dog sat for a friend. He cooked delicious meals, helped look after the dog Millie, and took the rubbish out! He was easy going, clean and tidy, and very easy to live with. Although it was only a few days, Tal felt like she had met someone very special. While away on his overseas trip, Tal and Elliott continued to talk and throughout this few weeks they started to officially date. They moved in together a few months later early 2016 in a little apartment in Yeppoon and spent time at the beach and enjoying the beautiful island views. Throughout 2016, they travelled to Cairns several times to visit Elliottโ€™s mum, step-dad and sister. During these trips Elliott and Tal decided they wanted to move to Cairns to be closer to his family, but also because it was just so beautiful. By Christmas 2016, they had left Yeppoon and moved to Cairns. Living in an apartment on Yorkeys Knob beach front for 5 years, before finally saving enough money (no thanks to Talโ€™s spending) to buy their first home at the end of 2021. After a few false starts (Tal thought on several occasions that Elliott was going to pop the question, much to her disappointment), it wasnโ€™t until the night before their 7 year anniversary Elliott FINALLY asked Tal to marry him. Good things take time! In their 9 year relationship, they have adopted 3 cats, Eva, Louis and Rupert and have gone on many adventures together, overseas (Tal learning how to ski (kind of)) and around Australia. They love going for coffee on the weekend, walking down to the beach and spending time with the 3 cats ๐Ÿ’• they are best friends and love living life together ๐Ÿ’•
