Accommodation and Travel Information
Accommodation The Culloden have offered our guests who wish to stay there a preferential bed and breakfast rate of £240 per night per double room, and they are currently holding 10 rooms for us (we can reserve more if required – please see below*). This rate applies to Saturday 22nd February and the Friday and Sunday evenings, if you are arriving the day before and wish to stay at the hotel that evening. Simon will be there on the Friday evening, but if you have other plans on the Friday he won’t be offended! If you do wish to stay at the Culloden you can book now by ringing 028 9042 1066 - we are advised that the earlier you book the better. You will need to pay a £75 non-refundable/ non-transferable deposit per room when you book. You can call to start booking your rooms now, please quote either the ‘Whyte/Hope Wedding reception ‘ or the block id number - 628824 to ensure you get the preferential rate. *If we need to reserve more than 10 rooms this will be possible, but to do so we’ll need to contact the hotel once the first ten have been reserved. In order to monitor this, if you do book a room at the Culloden please can you let us know by email/ WhatsApp etc so that we can keep a running total of how many rooms have been booked. If you are staying at the Culloden Hotel, you may be interested in the following information. Check-in for rooms is from 3.00, and checkout is 11.00. As with other hotels, you may be able to check in earlier if your room is ready. There is a pub/bistro, the Cultra Inn, in the grounds of the hotel, where you might want to eat or go for a drink during your stay. If you do, you can book online at cullodenestateandspa.com/dining/cultra-inn/ or you can ring on 028 9042 5840. The hotel also has very nice spa facilities, which you may want to use during your stay. Accommodation – city centre and elsewhere if you are looking to stay elsewhere eg in or closer to the city centre, there are many nice 3 and 4 star hotels to choose from in Belfast which should meet your needs. Belfast is a small city and the hotels are fairly close to each other. You can get details from the usual hotel booking sites – www.booking.com/ www.trivago.co.uk/ etc, as well as https://visitbelfast.com/ You might want to stay in the city centre if you are arriving on the Friday and have a night out there, and then possibly stay at the Culloden (or not) on the Saturday night – the choice is yours! You will be able to get a taxi from the Culloden to the city centre. And as in every city there are also plenty of properties to choose from via https://www.airbnb.co.uk/ If you want any advice or further information on where to stay just let one of us know. Travel If you are intending to fly, Belfast (George Best) City Airport is situated just four miles from the Culloden Hotel. Another airport is available if required (please see below). Belfast City Airport itself is only three miles from Belfast city centre (so seven miles from the city centre to the hotel) which gives you options for where you might want to stay, especially if you want to make a weekend of it. The closest and easiest option is Belfast (George Best) City airport. However, Belfast has two airports, Belfast City and Belfast International, so please choose the one that best suits you. If you do need to use it, Belfast International is 24 miles from the Culloden Hotel, and 19 miles from the city centre. Belfast City is easy to get in and out of, and it’s likely that you’ll be using Aer Lingus, Easijet, or Ryan Air to get there, dependent upon where you are coming from. The timetables are available now if you want to make an early booking to secure your flights, and they will be cheaper now than closer to the wedding. Car hire is also available at the airport from the usual suppliers, if you’re planning to see more of Northern Ireland during your stay. Alternatively, if you are intending to come on the car ferry, there is a Stena Line service which runs twice every day from Birkenhead to Belfast at 10.30am and overnight at 10.30pm, which takes eight hours. The return ferries also depart at 10.30am and 10.30pm. If you need to use a taxi when you’re out and about during your stay, it is worth knowing that you cannot flag down a taxi in Belfast. Taxis are ordered through phone apps. In addition to Uber, there is Fonacab and Value Cabs, so you may wish to download one or more of these. However, there are taxi ranks at the airports so you won’t need to use taxi apps there, and if you need a taxi to get you home from the wedding then you will be able to order one via the hotel reception, so again you won’t need to use an app. Making a week(end) of it Some of our guests have already indicated that they intend to make a weekend, or longer, of their visit. Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland are great places to visit, with lots to see and do. You can get information from: https://discovernorthernireland.com/ https://visitbelfast.com/
