The Long Way Home
Our story starts in high school - not as high school sweethearts, but with Rio helping Sabrina survive grade 10 math. After Humberside grad in 2013, life took us in different directions for more than a decade until our best friend's birthday party brought us back into the same room.
At the party, we stood at the bar to order drinks and did not stop talking or standing until last call. This marked the beginning of our "first date", which lasted a full week and was quickly followed by our first trip together to Mexico a couple weeks thereafter.
Our career and academic ambitions initially kept us out of the same city for years - with Sabrina moving from Ottawa, to Toronto, to New York, and back again to Ottawa, while Rio went from Toronto, to London, and back again to Toronto. The distance made us experts in patience, furniture packing, and trip planning, with adventures across Vancouver and the Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan, Cancun and Cozumel, Italy and France, and Alberta's rocky mountains - where Rio proposed in 2024.
In 2026, we finally closed the distance and moved into our first place together, at home in Toronto. Now, we cannot wait to mark the official beginning of forever by saying "I do" in front of our closest family and friends.
