Our Love Story
Rewind to December 2020, the first Christmas of lockdown: Both Chad and Nicole were living alone and were allowed join another household for the holiday season. Nicole came to Woodstock from Toronto to stay with her sister, Kristen and her family. Chad, being a good friend of Kristen's, also joined their "bubble".
At first, Nicole wasn't so sure how she felt about Chad, given he called her and her dog, Rosie, "losers" for wearing matching sweaters during one of their first interactions. Days passed, and they got to know each other on a different level. Nicole was struck by Chad's sensitive side, despite his seemingly tough exterior. He was so thoughtful, generous and always the one to lend a hand. She loved seeing him fit in so naturally with her family and animals. Chad was instantly captured by Nicole's warm and bubbly energy and thought she was a cute, but, off-limits.
After spending 4 days together, Nicole let her sister know she was interested in Chad, and when asked, Chad assured the feeling was mutual.
In the following weeks, they spent all their time together. Before they knew it, weeks rolled into months, then months rolled into years.
On a warm, October Sunday last fall, Chad had Nicole's mother, Holly, bring her down to the beach in Southampton. There, he waited on bent knee with their dogs in a picturesque boho beach hut. Ryson wore a bandana that asked, "Will you marry my dad?" and Rosie wore the ring box on her collar...and Nicole said YES!
