Our Love Story
It all started in 2016 where I would begin my final year at Point Cook Senior. This is also where my future wife, Mel, would be. Believe it or not, this is not where we began our relationship. My 2016 self did not know it at the time, but we were taking the long road to love. After graduation we became friends in a small group with other people from school. This unfortunately disqualifies us from being 'high school sweethearts', but as we grew closer to each other, I realise that there may be something here. So after building up enough courage, I asked her to hang out with me... alone. As the evening turned to night, and our bellies full from Oporto (which by the way we never bought again), we walked to the nearest park and sat. The stage is set. This is where our lives would change forever - on the 17th of October 2018, I asked her to be my girlfriend. It's coming up to 4 years later and we're still together. Along the way Mel and I spoke about getting married one day, but she didn't know that I was planning on showing her that very soon. On this years anniversary trip in the Yarra Valley, I planned to propose to her on a Hot Air Balloon and tell her that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. It very quickly became apparent that Melbourne's weather did not want that for us. And so because of that, the balloon company cancelled my booking, deeming the flight to be too risky. It's getting towards the end of the day and I'm running out of time. We're in our room that we booked at the Yarra Valley Lodge and this is usually the part where we open our gifts and read our cards that we write to each other every anniversary... Only that I didn't write a card this time because of what I was going to do. I asked her to wait for me while I go to my car and get my gift, the ring. As I go back into the room, the stage is set (once again). I didn't have a speech in mind like most movies do. I knew it in my heart this is what I wanted, so I kept it simple. I got down on one knee, and told her that I didn't write her a card because I only had a few words to say to her... 'Will you marry me?' Our life together would now be locked in forever. If you've read this far, thank you. We are so thrilled it's all finally happening and we're excited for you to be there for our special day. See you in February!
