James and Ed's love story
In May 2020, the whole world was filled with uncertainty, but fortunately for us, it was the time to find certainty in each other. And while it took almost nine months to take our relationship outside the house, the love only grew stronger in the real world. Nearly six years later we're getting married – and immensely grateful to be doing it in front of the people that mean so much to us.

Welcome to Woodend drinks
Given it’s a semi-destination wedding, many will be making a weekend of it. So there will be welcome drinks at 600 Above in Woodend at 7pm on Friday night. Please note this is entirely voluntary. There’ll be a round or two of drinks on us upon arrival – as well as some pizzas – and 600 Above also do other incredible food (and more pizzas) if you fancy. Please RSVP so we can know numbers.

Cocktails and canapés
You’ll notice we’re doing things a bit differently on our big day and one of the non-traditional touches we’re most excited for is an hour of relaxed cocktails and canapés with you to kickstart the event. Please join us promptly at 3:30pm.
Attire: Country chic (see dress code)

4:30pm
Ceremony
After the cocktails and canapés, we’ll all congregate the ceremony around 4:30pm. The whole day is at our home so the walk isn't far. We're hoping the ceremony will be outside, so if you wish, please bring hats or parasols for shade. We have a wet weather backup plan so no umbrellas required.
5:00pm
Reception
After the ceremony, that’s it for traditions. We don’t have a wedding party so there will be no toasts, speeches, first dance or cutting the cake. We just want to spend as much time with you all as possible and maximise our chats and dances! Our reception isn't seated – there will be plenty of finger food doing the rounds and open bar until 11pm. We'll also be kicking on after the bar finishes for anyone whose not ready to call it a night!
Dress Code
Country Chic Smart-casual with a country twist: stylish, comfortable and practical for (potentially) hot days and cool nights, as well as other elements like grassy terrain. Think garden-party vibes with comfy but appropriate footwear – like wedges, blocks or dressy flats – and smart trousers or chinos with a button-up shirt. Jackets and ties welcome but not required. No jeans please.
Parking on the day
We live on a private shared drive so out of respect to our neighbours, there will be no parking on the property, on the front nature strip or shared drive. There are plenty of spaces on Mount Macedon Rd within 2 mins walk, just across the road.
Accommodation information
If you still need accommodation, Holgate Brewhouse is within 15 mins walk or 2 mins taxi. There’s also Black Forest Motel, Macedon Ranges Hotel & Spa and Airbnbs locally – all within local taxi distance.

Transport options
Until 11pm, you can book a KimCo - our local taxi company There are no Ubers in Woodend. From 11pm-1am, we’ve pre-booked after-hours Kimco to drop people to accomodation (within Woodend only). If you’re staying outside of Woodend, we’d strongly recommend pre-booking Macedon Ranges Taxi or Silver Taxi Mount Macedon. The last train goes back to Melbourne from Woodend station at 10:30pm and the last bus at 11:40pm – both take an hour to Southern Cross. Woodend station is a 15 min walk straight up Mount Macedon Road.
Our honeymoon fund
We don't expect gifts. We are extremely grateful for everyone travelling near and far to join us. If you would like to, we've set up a honeymoon fund to help us start married life with unforgettable memories!
Share your photos with us
We won't be able to be everywhere at once – and there will be some things we'll miss – so we'd love you to share any incredible moments you capture on the day. Please share by QR code.
Extra details
Did we miss anything? Here's some extra information you may need – and please reach out if you have any more questions.
Are children invited to the wedding?
We’re excited to celebrate our special day with *almost* all of our loved ones! To ensure everyone can relax and enjoy the festivities, we kindly request that our wedding be an adults-only affair, except for children within our family. We appreciate your understanding.
When do we need to RSVP by?
Please submit your RSVP before 31st January.
Are the wedding ceremony and the reception at the same venue?
Yes, both the ceremony and reception will be held at our home.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to budget and space limitations, it's invite-only so unfortunately no plus ones are allowed. Ed has gently let down his 5,000 Twitter followers.
Why fewer traditions?
Until eight years ago, we didn't have the right to get married. And while we're so grateful we now have that privilege, we're equally excited to do things a bit differently – because marriage is evolving.
