You want your Wedding Celebrant to be friendly, relaxed, and bring out the best in you as a couple - they set the whole tone for your wedding. Your big day is going to be over in the blink of an eye, and you want it to be a memorable, positive, stress-free experience for all of those involved. But what about the cost? How much should your wedding celebrant charge?
My first piece of advice is to take your time in deciding. Go through each celebrant in the lineup and do some research on their past work. Check out their portfolios, check their pricing packages and keep an open mind. It is not always a good idea to go with the first person that comes to your mind, but it is always advisable to speak to more than one - we generally recommend at least three. From there you should have a good idea of pricing and, if possible, be able to highlight strengths and weaknesses of each celebrant.
In my experience, a good celebrant should be good at taking orders (regarding a date or time for the wedding) as well as taking care of clients, organizing the ceremony, helping people and answering their questions. The ideal celebrant should be organized, talk to people, understand your values and wedding wishes and be able to keep a good flow with everyone during the ceremony.
