Please note that the Castlewellan Agricultural Show is also taking place on the 19th of July this year and there will be very heavy traffic in and around Castlewellan throughout the day. To avoid the traffic, we recommend that you do not travel through Castlewellan to the Ballymascanlon. Instead, we recommend that you take the following route through Dromore and use the A1/M1 motorway for a quicker journey. This will also avoid Newry traffic. ⸻ Recommended Route (approx. 1 hour): • From Seaforde Presbyterian Church, head towards Main Street (Seaforde) and turn left onto the A24 (Newcastle Road) towards Ballynahinch. • In Ballynahinch, take the first exit at the roundabout onto Dromore street and continue along the B2 (Dromore Road/Ballynahinch Road) following signage to Dromore. • In Dromore, follow signage to join the A1 southbound toward Newry/Dublin. • Continue on the A1 (which becomes the M1 once you cross the border). • Take Exit 18 for Dundalk North. At the first smaller roundabout take the second exit onto the R132. Then, at the next larger roundabout, take the first exit (R173) towards Carlingford. • After about 1 mile, the Ballymascanlon Hotel will be on your left-hand side.
