Our Story
We first met in the winter of 2009, not in a crowded bar, but through that most modern of meeting places; an online dating site. Just weeks before Alex’s 40th birthday, we started chatting online, and before long the messages were flying (along with a few sparks). As the birthday approached, a meeting seemed inevitable. With his calendar filling up, the only option was the actual day of Alex's 40th. Trish promised to buy Alex a birthday drink if a meeting could be arranged. "Let's meet at Lily Black's for one drink!". It was meant to be a quick, low‑key drink before Trish went to a MIFF film and Alex off to his dance class... but it quickly felt like something special. Our second and third dates were Ceroc dance classes. It was the perfect "meet-cute" opportunity to check each other out and get a bit hands on. It went so well we’ve been dancing together ever since. Fast‑forward to Healesville, 2018. Over wine, laughter, and one slightly dorky proposal, Trish smiled and, of course, said “yes”. After years of travel, mischief, bad jokes, good dinners, and plenty more adventures, we’re thrilled to be celebrating our big day surrounded by our favourite people. Let's do this!

Help us build the event soundtrack
Music has been a part of our journey and we’d love our wedding playlist to include songs that mean something to the people we love. Please send us one song you’d like to hear on the day—something that will get you dancing, bring back a happy memory, or simply make you smile. We’ll add as many suggestions as we can and create a soundtrack filled with favourites. You'll find a spot to send through your song on the RSVP form.
FAQs
We've pulled together a handy Q&A to help you get the info you need in no time—so you can focus on the fun stuff!
When is the RSVP deadline?
Please submit your RSVP by 1 October 2026.
Is there a dress code theme?
If you're looking for ideas, the colour palette can be referenced from the top of the invitation (e.g. blue, purple, gold, back and pink). But at the same time, we just want you to look fabulous in whatever you feel comfortable wearing on the day. Comfortable shoes are encouraged—there’ll be dancing!
Are children invited to the wedding?
We’re very excited to have our nieces and nephews with us on the day. Apart from them, we haven’t made provision for children at the wedding. If you have any questions or need to talk through arrangements, please reach out to one of us in person.
Is there parking or public transport nearby?
Studley Grounds has ample off-street parking. Public transport isn't ideal. If you’re planning on having a drink, we recommend organising a designated driver, taxi or ride-share home.
Are the ceremony and reception at the same venue?
Yes, both the ceremony and reception will be held at Studley Grounds in Kew.
What happens if it rains?
We have a wet-weather plan, so we’ll be celebrating rain, hail or shine. The venue is big enough to accommodate everyone inside with undercover decking. No need to bring an umbrella unless you’d like one for getting to and from the venue.
What if I have food allergies?
No problem. There's a section in your RSVP link where you can tell us your needs.
Should I bring a gift?
We're not fresh-faced kids just starting out, so we don't need any more 'stuff'. Your presence is our present, so a nice card, and a song for the dance playlist will be perfect!
Our Honeymoon Fund
Should you wish to honour us with a gift, we have set up a honeymoon fund for your convenience. It allows you to contribute in a way you know will truly make our journey together special.
